About Me:

For the past eleven years of my life in Syria, and in my hometown of Amoudah, I have fought to continue my education. After leaving Amoudah to live in Damascus for 15 years and study, my family gave me an ultimatum; I had no choice but to leave Damascus and return to Amoudah because of the war. The conflict forced me to drop out of college with only two years left. The world I knew suddenly collapsed and my dreams were smashed in front of my own eyes. However, being a self-determined Kurdish woman, I did not give up and looked for opportunities to complete my college degree. In the following five years after leaving university, I worked as a teacher, social worker, accountant, and deputy for the Co-President of the Department of Economics. I was also finally able to convince my family to let me return to Damascus, as my self-confidence and financial independence paved the way for my return. I was prepared to face any and all challenges as I was coming closer to my dreams. In 2019, I finally graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Damascus.

My Goals:

By pursuing a Master’s, and eventually a PhD program in Economics, abroad, I will obtain more knowledge to be able to improve the economic reality in my homeland and develop its future, especially in the agricultural sector. My work experience so far, as well as my academic involvement, have put me on this path.

I have fought for my education for the past 15 years and, with SYE and your support, I will continue to do so.
